Back from the army trainingEvery person in Israel must serve in the army (3 years for boys and 2 for girls) when he reaches the age of 18 years. There are many things you can do, enough that even pacifists can find something (you can be a teacher in poor cities as you military job).
Gadna is a week for people in the age of 16-17 to prepare them for the military, including everything (sleeping in tents, wearing uniforms, weapon training, and even icky food
). All the kids in my age at my schoold, go to the Gadna together. I returned today after we finished the gadna, and I must say it was something that I enjoyed (at least most of it).Yesterday we went to a shooting gallery, after some weapon trainings, and we had Long M16's with real live bullets. We were given 11 bullets to shoot, and I must say it was a unique feeling. It's more then just the adrenaline. It's the feeling of pride that you will soon (in 2 years) will protect your nation, your country and your people.
By the way, I got 6 out of 11 bullets on the target, from a distance of 50 meters. For my first time in a shooting gallery, it's considered good and I'm a bit proud

חזרתי מהגדנ"ע השבוע, אם אתם מסוגלים לקרוא את זה בעברית אז אתם כנראה יודעים מה זה גדנ"ע. היינו חמישה ימים השבוע בגדנ"ע ואני חייב להגיד שדי נהניתי. המטווח היה מאוד כיף, ויש תחושה מאוד טובה של אדרנלין וגאווה על כך שבקרוב תגן על המולדת.
אמרו לנו מספר דברים מעניינים בגדנ"ע, ואחד מהם רלוונטי לדעתי לאנשים שמשתמטים מסיבות אידיאולוגיות. כל מי שפציפיסט צריך לדעת, שיש תפקידים שהם לא רק לא קרביים, אלא גם לא תומכי לחימה בשום אופן. יש אפשרות לשרת כמורה חייל בחיל החינוך, ואז אתה הולך לקיבוצים ויישובים קטנים לעזור שם ולחנך. הדבר היחיד שמקשר את זה לצבא הוא העובדה שאתה לובש מדים.
אם יש מישהו פציפיסט או מישהו שלא מוכן להתגייס מסיבות אידיאולוגיות, אנא לכו לגדנ"ע. אתם תכירו מספיק תפקידים, שגם אם אתם לא מוכנים לתמוך בלוחמים (ולכן אפילו לא מוכנים להיות טבחים/נהגים
יש מספיק תפקידים שאינם קשורים ללוחמים באף צורה שהיא.דך אגב, גם אם אתם פציפיסטים, אני די בטוח שתהנו מהמטווח - זו תחושה מאוד טובה של אדרנלין.

However, I'm not currently active on GIMPtalk, since I'm busy in university and other projects.
I'm working on 2 gimp relared projects right now (a GIMP PDF export plugin which is almsot done, and another interesting filter for GIMP).
